Howdy! Long time, no blog. As you can perhaps see, I’ve had a bit of a spring clean.
I’ve got several rambling posts in my drafts folder about why I decided to clear out my old content. But, after much reading and editing of them, I’ve come to the conclusion that a lengthy explanation is both unnecessary and uninteresting.
So, the short version: I want a fresh start.
Fashion has always been the primary focus of this blog, and I’m certainly still interested in clothing and style. However, the way I feel about it has changed radically since I started blogging.
A big part of my ‘mission’ over the last few years has been simplifying my life. It started with cutting down my wardrobe (largely inspired by The Minimalists, Project 333 and Light by Coco) and went on to change the way I approach my finances, my work and my diet.
That starting point gave me a new mindset, and the space (both physical and mental) to rediscover the things that are really important to me.
I’ve become a committed vegetarian. I’ve discovered a range of mindful hobbies, like writing (fiction), listening to audiobooks and walking in nature. I’ve reassessed the way I think about work, ambition and my “career”. I’ve also quit using Facebook and Twitter, and feel much happier for it (more on that later).
After watching Lauren Singer’s incredible Ted Talk about living zero waste, I discovered a whole community of people who are passionate about protecting our planet, and have been inspired to start my own journey towards a more environmentally-friendly existence.
In short, I’m a different person to the one who started blogging about fashion nearly ten years ago.
I’ll still talk about personal style and capsule wardrobes on this blog. But I want to write about other topics, too. I’m planning posts on:
- simple living and minimalsim
- ethical consumerism
- cruelty-free beauty
- the zero waste movement
I can’t promise that my updates will be any more regular, but I can promise that they’ll be created with more passion and excitement than anything I’ve managed to publish recently. I’m looking forward to sharing my experiments and experiences with like-minded people again.
Thank you for your support and friendship over the years I’ve been blogging. I hope you’ll continue to be interested in what I have to say.
